Venom (2018) is the only good Sony Spider-Man movie — and I’m saying it live, with receipts.Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has spent years trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice. Morbius flopped. Madame Web flopped. Kraven the Hunter flopped. But 2018’s Venom did something none of them managed: it committed to a tone, let Tom Hardy go fully unhinged as Eddie Brock, and gave audiences a movie they actually had fun with. Tonight we break down why the first Venom still works when everything around it doesn’t.What we’re covering:
Why the Eddie Brock / Venom buddy-comedy dynamic carries the entire film
What Venom got right that Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter got wrong
The “We Are Venom” moments that still hold up
Whether Venom: Let There Be Carnage lived up to the original
Where the Sony Spider-Man Universe goes from here
Drop your take in the chat — is Venom really the only good one, or am I giving it too much credit?
