DC Comics constantly tells fans that Wonder Woman is one of the most important and iconic superheroes in comic book history—but does DC Comics actually treat her that way? In this video, we explore the Wonder Woman Paradox: the contradiction between DC’s claims that they respect and revere Wonder Woman and the way the character is actually handled in the Wonder Woman comics. From inconsistent characterization and controversial creative decisions to the treatment of Wonder Woman’s mythology, supporting characters, history, and legacy, we’re examining why DC Comics doesn’t seem to understand Wonder Woman despite constantly celebrating her importance. Is Wonder Woman truly a priority for DC, or is she simply treated as an icon in name only? We break down DC Comics’ treatment of Wonder Woman, the problems with modern Wonder Woman comics, Wonder Woman’s place in the DC Universe, and why so many Wonder Woman fans feel that DC isn’t living up to its promises. If you’re a fan of Wonder Woman, DC Comics, Diana Prince, the Amazons, Wonder Woman comics, or DC superheroes, this is a deep dive into the Wonder Woman Paradox.
